Impressions There isn’t much to report today. I started the day with a breakfast buffet and then spent the rest of the morning relaxing. Once the rain stopped, I took a long walk on the beach. Not much else is happening today. With a little luck, I’ll continue tomorrow in perfect weather. Impressions The evening and night at the campground didn’t go as expected. At least I was able to do some laundry and charge my batteries. However, about 100 meters away from my tent, there was a much-hyped country party with music and square dancing. Consequently, all the Swedes—dressed as cowboys—partied well into the night not far from my tent. Still, I felt pretty well-rested this morning; I was able to dry everything quickly without any problems and then set off on a short day’s ride with surprisingly little rain. Impressions I woke up this morning to pouring rain. Luckily, everything stayed dry inside my shelter. After the rain let up, I set off around 10 a.m. and was at the ferry to Helsingborg in no time. With the weather still iffy, I didn’t linger there for long and headed straight onto the Kattegattleden (that’s the name of the west coast bike path). For lunch in Höganäs, I grabbed a pizza from the kebab place—typically Swedish. ...

Impressions Got off to a slow start again this morning. It was cold, and I wasn’t sure where I was headed for the day. I took plenty of breaks and just relaxed. I rolled leisurely through Copenhagen, checked out a few sights, and had a delicious cup of coffee. Finding a place to sleep was a bit chaotic today. My original plan was to stay with someone from the WarmShowers community. Unfortunately, both of my requests were turned down. At the same time, a Reddit user invited me to stay at their home in Copenhagen. That didn’t really work out, though, since I wanted to get as close as possible to the ferry to Sweden today. For that reason, I ended up back at a shelter near Nivå. Strangely enough, all shelter spots in this part of Denmark either cost money or require a reservation. ...

Impressions This morning, after a night without thunderstorms, I had a hard time getting out of the tent. It was suddenly cold, cloudy, and windy. An hour later than yesterday, things were going pretty well again. It was extremely windy. The wind was coming mainly from the side, and sometimes even from behind, but at least it wasn’t coming from the front. Shortly after I crossed the huge, old Storstrømsbroen bridge, I ran into Joana and Christian. While chatting, we realized we were heading for almost the same destination for the day, so we decided to ride the remaining 70 km together. ...

Impressions Last night in the tent was surprisingly good. After a coffee, I set off at a leisurely pace and then powered through the first 50 km to the ferry to Lolland. On the sun deck, I was able to enjoy the rest of my breakfast from yesterday while taking in the fantastic view. Once off the ferry, my good mood was dampened by a 30-km stretch with a nasty headwind. After I’d conquered that, I rewarded myself with a huge pizza and a swim in the Baltic Sea. ...

Impressions I got an early start today. When it’s already light just after 4 a.m., it doesn’t really feel that way. With just a cup of coffee for breakfast, I just hopped on my bike and went. On the way, I ate the leftovers from yesterday, and before I knew it, I was at the ferry. The first 70 km flew by in no time. Just lots of new, beautiful sights. ...

Impressions Spent the whole day on the train today. Made it there despite an hour-long delay and a last-minute track change. Then took a leisurely ride over to Steffen’s to spend a nice evening there. Tomorrow we’re off! The Plan I’m going to spend a month cycling through Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. I plan to camp in the wild and take advantage of the many beautiful shelter sites in the Scandinavian countries. I want to keep my luggage as light as possible, while still packing everything I need for a month-long trip. Two weeks in Denmark, two bikes, and a clockwise loop around Jutland: In the summer of 2023, Jonas and I headed north along the North Sea, through Skagen, and back south along the eastern coast. But what really stuck with me weren’t the lines on the map—it was the wind, the dunes, a cramped tent during a thunderstorm, countless places to camp, and way too many hot dogs.
