The Plan

I’m going to spend a month cycling through Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. I plan to camp in the wild and take advantage of the many beautiful shelter sites in the Scandinavian countries. I want to keep my luggage as light as possible, while still packing everything I need for a month-long trip.

Route

The rough route plan, starting and ending in Flensburg, goes through the following cities: Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Oslo, Larvik, Hirtshals, Esbjerg I plan to cycle about 100 km each day.

Update I changed the route along the way and didn’t continue all the way up to Oslo; instead, I took the ferry back to Denmark from Gothenburg.

Luggage

The goal is to travel as light as possible while still having a good time on the bike . The following sections list the items I’m taking with me. Unfortunately, I didn’t weigh everything in detail, but I can say that my total luggage, including bags and 1.8 L of water, weighs about 14 kg.

Bike

My bike is a Cube Nuroad C:62SL. With its carbon frame and fork, as well as electronic shifting, it’s only somewhat suitable for a tour like this. But I’m just hoping the carbon won’t mind carrying so much gear.

For comfort, I’m leaving the triathlon handlebar extensions on and switching to wide tubeless knobby tires. Bike
